Who We Are

ACH Farming is a proud family farm which now operates as a modern agri-business with a mixed farming heritage. We are both passionate about food production and committed to caring for our farmed environment and we uphold the same core values that have guided the Hulme family for generations and will continue to influence our thinking and actions. Through responsible stewardship, professional management, and a dedication to continuous learning, we strive to farm sustainably and enhance everything we are entrusted with.

We produce great British food for our customers, including: tree fruit (apples, pears, cherries, apricots and plums); cereals; beef cattle; asparagus and grapes for Wine GB production. We also have a fruit import business which offers our customers year round supply and complements our core ACH Farming business.

Our Mission: Farming for Tomorrow

Our Values:

  • The long term drives our decision making
  • Honesty, fairness and respect
  • Be outstanding in all our fields
  • Always leave something for the next person
  • Our farmed environment feeds us and our customers

We are mixed farmers based in East Kent in the Garden of England. We farm 4,000 acres in a triangle between Canterbury, Folkestone and Sandwich growing a diverse range of crops and produce.

In 1946 Arthur Cecil Hulme bought Great Pedding, a 202 acre farm in Wingham. The Hulme family had farmed in Lancashire over three generations but saw an opportunity to start a new farming business in Kent. The family traded as AC Hulme & Sons and over the decades developed a successful mixed farming business under the guidance of Cecil and latterly his sons Humphrey and Tim, who led a rapid expansion of the farms during the late 1900s and early 2000s. Today, ACH Farming is led by Managing Director Tom Hulme and his senior management team on behalf of the Hulme family, supported by a dedicated team that grows to 200 strong during peak harvest season.

ACH Farming is an approved supplier to all major UK supermarkets and a member of the ASSURED Produce ‘Red Tractor’ Scheme as well as Assured Combinable Crops and FABBL. We have long been LEAF Marque certified and regularly undertake specific supermarket audits such as BRCGS and the SMETA ethical audit. The whole farm is entered into Countryside Stewardship and Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) agreements.

Every day we work to improve our farmed environment for the generations to follow us. We love it!
